Lubbock Wakes Up Inside a Cloud: The Science Behind Two Days of Thick Fog

Lubbock spent two straight mornings wrapped in fog so thick that familiar streets looked like scenes from a Stephen King movie. The National Weather Service says southerly winds pushed unusually moist air into the South Plains while a temperature inversion acted like a lid, trapping cool, damp air near the surface. Thursday morning readings at Lubbock’s airport showed a temperature of 55 degrees, a dew point of 54, and humidity near 96%, with visibility down to about half a mile.

Fog is simply a cloud that forms at ground level. When air cools to its dew point, water vapor condenses into tiny droplets that hang in the air and scatter light. The fog cleared once the sun warmed the ground and broke down the inversion, but with more moisture moving into West Texas and rain expected, similar conditions could return if overnight temperatures and winds cooperate.

For drivers, the practical takeaway is simple: low beams, extra following distance, and a few extra minutes. Fog mornings are unpredictable, and half a mile of visibility closes in faster than you think. What’s the worst fog you’ve ever driven through in the Lawton area? Let us know on our social pages.

Tate McRae's "Housewife" Scores Her First Streaming Songs No. 1 as a Lead Artist

“Housewife” is officially Tate McRae’s first No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart as a lead artist, and she got there in a big way: 22.9 million U.S. streams in the week ending Oct. 22, according to Luminate. It’s her second time topping that chart overall, after her feature on Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want” spent six weeks at No. 1 in 2025. Her previous best as a lead act was “Tit for Tat” at No. 2, so this one clears the bar in a major way.

The song also debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her highest-charting single as a lead act. All signs point to “Housewife” leading her fourth studio album, which doesn’t have a release date yet. Her last album, “So Close to What,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March 2025, so expectations for the follow-up are already sky-high. There’s also a small chart ripple worth noting: Ella Langley’s record-tying run with “Choosin’ Texas” has come to an end, shaking up the top of the streaming leaderboard.

So what does this mean for McRae’s next chapter? A streaming No. 1 and a Hot 100 peak as a lead artist is the kind of momentum that makes an album rollout feel like an event. If “Housewife” is the opening act, the next era could be her biggest yet. Are you team “Housewife,” or did another Tate track get your repeat plays this week? Tell us in the comments.

Savannah Chrisley Just Hard-Launched Her Fiancé, And The Internet Has Questions

Savannah Chrisley made it official Tuesday night, posting the first public photo of her fiancé on her Instagram Story with the caption “My forever adventure partner.” The post came hours after she announced her engagement and pregnancy, initially keeping his identity mostly private before the internet connected the dots. Her fiancé, Jason Galanis, 56, is a convicted fraudster who once served time at the same Florida prison camp as her father, Todd Chrisley.

Both Galanis and Todd were pardoned by President Donald Trump last year. Savannah has been open about defending the relationship, calling the 27-year age gap no big deal and describing Galanis as her “safe place” and “protector.” She also shared a letter to her unborn child, writing “You are not a controversy.” The couple has been together since 2025, got engaged in the Cayman Islands last December, and are expecting their baby in January with a wedding planned for May.p>

The story is everywhere right now, blending reality TV nostalgia, a headline-making romance, and a whole lot of public opinion. What do you think: is she right to shut out the criticism, or does the public reaction make sense? Drop your take on our socials.

Jay-Z Confirmed for Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, and the Age Detail Is Wild

Jay-Z is officially your Super Bowl LXI halftime headliner. The NFL announced it during halftime of the Oct. 26 Monday Night Football game, and the news set social media on fire. He’ll take the stage at SoFi Stadium on Feb. 14, 2027, more than three decades into a career that’s produced 25 Grammys and more stadium anthems than we can count.

There’s a fun coincidence buried in the announcement: Jay will be 57 for the show, the exact same age Tom Petty was when he headlined the 2008 halftime show. That puts Jay in the veteran sweet spot the NFL has often favored for the biggest musical stage in the world. Roc Nation will executive produce once again, with Hamish Hamilton directing, and the performance airs on ESPN, ABC and Disney+.

It also caps a huge year for Jay, who’s been celebrating 30 years in music with a run of stadium shows. From Reasonable Doubt to the Super Bowl stage, as he put it himself, it’s been a journey. So what’s the first song on your dream setlist? Tell us in the comments.

GTA VI Arrives Weeks Away as Console Prices Hit Record Highs

The countdown to GTA VI is officially on. Rockstar’s long-awaited sequel launches November 19, 2026, but if you haven’t bought a current-gen console yet, the timing could not be worse. Both Sony and Microsoft raised prices by $100 to $150 in August, putting the PS5 Pro at $899 and the Xbox Series X at $799.99. Pair that with the $79.99 standard edition of the game, and day one in Vice City is looking like a four-figure commitment.

And there’s no cheap escape route. GTA VI is a console exclusive at launch, so PC players are stuck waiting until at least Q1 2027, and it won’t run on the Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One, or handhelds like Steam Deck. If that weren’t enough, AI-driven supply chain shortages have pushed electronics prices up 17% to 42% across the board, and rumors say next-gen consoles could land between $1,000 and $1,800. The AI boom is great for tech companies and rough for anyone’s gaming budget.

So the real question heading into November isn’t whether GTA VI will be incredible. It’s whether one game is worth nearly a grand of hardware to play it the moment it drops. Would you buy a console for a single game, or is that a hard pass? Tell us on socials.

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" Breaks the All-Time Hot 100 Record With 25 Weeks at No. 1

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has officially made Billboard Hot 100 history. As of the Oct. 31, 2026 chart, the song has spent 25 weeks at No. 1, the longest reign since the chart launched in August 1958. It passed Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has accumulated 22 weeks on top across holiday seasons since December 2019.

The timeline is wild. “Choosin’ Texas” first reached No. 1 on the Feb. 14, 2026 chart, tied the 20-week mark for longest-leading non-holiday hit on Sept. 5, then kept right on going. Long reigns are rare air: only about 4% of all Hot 100 No. 1s have managed 10 or more weeks at the top, a list that includes Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” Boyz II Men’s “End of the Road,” Adele’s “Easy on Me,” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men and Drake each have three double-digit No. 1s, and Santana was the first act with back-to-back singles that each topped the chart for 10-plus weeks.

Langley told Billboard News the run “feels surreal” and called it the biggest moment of her career, crediting fans for changing her trajectory. The milestone also lands as country continues its takeover of the pop chart. So now we need your vote: is “Choosin’ Texas” the biggest song of all time, or does the streaming era change how we should read this record?

Lawton's Purple House on Hilltop Drive Brings Fire-Breathing Dragon, Handmade Halloween Spectacle

Drive down NW Hilltop Drive and you’ll spot it before you spot the address: a purple two-story home with a fire-breathing dragon in the front yard, a handmade fountain around it, and a miniature Ferris wheel nearby. Locals call it “That House On Hilltop.” Owner Justin Hackney, who also runs Lawton’s historic Vaska Theatre, builds most of it himself, and back in September he announced he was done with cheap plastic commercial decor in favor of pieces he makes by hand. Many of those will become permanent fixtures at 909 NW Hilltop Dr.

Hackney says night is the best time to see the house in all its glories, so an after-dark drive is your best bet. If you stop and walk the property, stay in front of the fountain, and park on the street rather than the grass so the yard and the neighbors stay in good shape.

On Halloween night, the house hosts a Safe House block party with food, drinks and music. It’s free and family-friendly, and attendees are asked to bring candy to pass out to trick-or-treaters. With Fort Sill families and folks from all over Lawton expected, it’s shaping up to be one of the safest spots in town to spend the evening. So, are you planning to swing by before Halloween, or are you waiting for the block party?

Daft Punk and LEGO Are Officially Teaming Up, and It All Started With a Father-Son Lockdown Build

Daft Punk retired in 2021, but that hasn’t stopped the helmeted duo from making headlines. LEGO dropped a surprise teaser film on Thursday featuring Daft Punk minifigures following a holographic red brick, soundtracked by “Voyager” and “Human After All,” and announced a full partnership promising product, content, and brand experiences.

The story behind the collab is as good as the announcement. In 2020, Patrick Harboun and his son built a LEGO recreation of Daft Punk’s iconic Pyramid stage during lockdown in Luxembourg. Their submission won the Grand Prize in LEGO Ideas’ Music to Our Ears challenge, and that fan build has now grown into an official collaboration between LEGO and the French electronic legends.

Don’t expect to find out everything right away. LEGO and Daft Punk are keeping specifics under wraps, with more details expected in 2027. In the meantime, the origin story alone has both fandoms buzzing. What set would you want to see from a Daft Punk x LEGO drop?

Samoan Island Sees Native Wildlife Surge After Invasive Rats and Pigs Removed

Nu’utele Island in Samoa is giving us the kind of comeback story that usually takes decades. Just one year after invasive rats and feral pigs were removed, native seedlings are carpeting the forest floor, giant taro crops are thriving, and researchers have found active nests of species like the shy ground dove and the endemic Samoan starling.

The effort was a true partnership, led by Samoa’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment alongside PRISMSS, Island Conservation, and community members from Aleipata. Field teams conducted 12 expeditions over 130 days between March 2025 and May 2026, and the payoff has been dramatic. Conservationists even recorded a land crab species not previously seen on the island, and the recovery sets the stage for a planned translocation of the threatened Mao bird.

What makes Nu’utele special is the speed. Island birds evolved without defenses against predators like rats, so a single year of predator-free living transformed the forest. Former New Zealand rugby star Glen Osborne was reportedly part of the effort to remove the last feral pigs, proving conservation has room for everyone. What’s one small change you could make to help nature bounce back near you?

Amy Winehouse's Back to Black Turns 20: The One-Take Magic and the Reissue You Need This Week

Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black officially turns 20 on Oct. 27, and the milestone comes with a serious gift for fans. A three-disc reissue arrives Oct. 23 via Island, packed with B-sides, demos and live takes recorded in Amsterdam in 2007. The original album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, won five Grammys, and ranks No. 11 among the biggest albums in British chart history with over 4.6 million chart units. In 2024, Apple Music placed it at No. 8 on its best albums of all time list.

To mark the anniversary, Billboard published an oral history with the people who built the record. Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi produced, Brooklyn’s The Dap-Kings supplied the analog soul backbone, and Paul O’Duffy co-wrote “Wake Up Alone.” He recalled Amy singing the song from beginning to end in a single take, calling it pure magic. Neal Sugarman, saxophonist for The Dap-Kings, said she could truly tell a story instead of trying to outsing other artists. The piece also addresses how hard relentless touring was on her before her death in 2011 at age 27.

Two decades later, the influence is everywhere in British pop, from Adele to RAYE. The reissue and the oral history both offer a fresh way into a record that still sounds timeless. So pop it on this week and hear the first-take magic for yourself.

Comanche Nation Jr. Princess launches Elgin recycling initiative

Elgin residents now have somewhere to take their recyclables, and the push came from a 15-year-old. Clara Tee-Ohms Yazzie, a sophomore at Elgin High School and the Comanche Nation Junior Princess, worked with Comanche Nation environmental staff and Elgin city council members to get a recycling trailer delivered to the community, which had no local recycling service. She presented the idea herself and placed the first plastic bottle in the bin on Friday.

The people who helped make it happen include Environmental Director Christina Cooper, Environmental Technician Dowell Bennett, and Environmental Services Coordinator Bryce Emhoolah, along with Elgin City Council members Phil Britches and Travis Bennett. Yazzie called representing the Comanche Nation a huge honor and a lot of responsibility. She’s a descendant of Chiefs Esa Rosa, Mowway and Ten Bears, and she previously served as the 2024-26 Comanche Indian Veterans Association Princess.

Her case for the project is straightforward: recycling keeps waste out of dumps and out of local lakes and creeks. Around Lawton and Elgin, those creeks and the Wichita Mountains are part of daily life, so the impact is easy to picture. The trailer gives residents a practical way to keep everyday plastic out of the waste stream without driving out of town.

What’s your town doing about recycling, and who’s leading the charge where you live?

Trump and Talarico Both Set to Rally in Lubbock on October 27

Lubbock becomes the center of Texas politics on Tuesday, October 27, when President Trump and Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico hold separate rallies in the city on the same day. Trump’s event supports Republican Ken Paxton’s Senate bid, with doors opening at 11 a.m. and Trump scheduled to speak at 2:30 p.m. The venue hasn’t been officially confirmed, though a source pointed to the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Talarico’s rally follows that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Frazer Alumni Pavilion on the Texas Tech campus, with doors at 6 p.m. and free Commuter North lot parking after 5:30 p.m.

For anyone planning to be in Lubbock that day, expect security checkpoints, road closures, and parking headaches around both events. The same-day scheduling is drawing attention statewide, especially with Trump also slated for a Waco rally at 6 p.m. that evening. Paxton and Talarico are competing for the Senate seat currently held by John Cornyn.

The bigger deadline: early voting in Texas runs October 19 through October 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Whether or not you attend a rally, this is your window to make your voice heard. Are you voting early this year, or waiting until Election Day?

Adam Levine's Brian Wilson Story on The Voice Is Peak Cringe (and Peak Relatable)

Adam Levine has played arenas and stadiums for two decades, but even he isn’t immune to a mortifying moment in front of a legend. During Monday’s Battle round rehearsal on The Voice, Levine told contestants Amanda Mikkel and Julia Clark about the time he sang “Surfer Girl” at a piano in front of Brian Wilson himself. The Beach Boys co-founder stared at Levine throughout the performance and said nothing afterward. As Levine put it, “If you want to know what uncomfortable is? That was uncomfortable.”

Guest mentor Alex Warren helped reassure the singers that awkward stage moments happen to everyone. It clearly worked, because Mikkel and Clark both delivered praised takes on Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” In the end, Levine chose Mikkel to advance to Cut Week and noted that managing nerves will be a priority for her going forward.

The moment works because it’s a reminder that stars get starstruck too. A famous coach, a legendary idol, and one deeply silent room make for a story that anyone who’s ever met their hero can feel in their bones. Have you ever embarrassed yourself in front of someone you idolized? Tell us in the comments.

Taylor Swift Shuts Down Fan Filming Her at Chiefs Game and the Internet Has Her Back

Taylor Swift made it clear on Sunday that the best thing to watch at Arrowhead Stadium is the football. Video from the Chiefs-Chargers game shows a fan in the row in front of her VIP suite filming her, and Swift gesturing for them to stop and turn back to the field. When the filming continued, a man believed to be part of her security team approached, and the fan walked away.

The moment landed during a packed weekend for Swift, who attended the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday before flying to Kansas City to watch Travis Kelce and the Chiefs with Caitlin Clark and Este Haim. Social media reaction swung heavily in her favor, with commenters praising her for setting a boundary and calling out the fan for ignoring it.

The clip is also fueling the ongoing conversation about celebrity privacy in public spaces, especially at games where courtside and suite sightings are part of the experience. Fans clearly think there’s a difference between a quick glance and a camera in someone’s face all night.

Where do you land: is filming a celeb at a game fair game, or should fans give them space? Sound off in the comments.

Justice Is Scoring GTA VI and Dropped a New Single With Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard

That mystery music from August’s GTA VI footage finally has an answer: Justice. The French electronic duo has been confirmed as the composers of the game’s original score, and they celebrated with a brand new single called “Flower in a Hurricane,” featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It’s the first Justice and Tame Impala reunion since “Neverender,” their Grammy-winning, Billboard No. 1 hit.

The single is just one piece of a massive soundtrack. Rockstar Games previously announced 34 new songs for GTA VI, with contributors including Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen, Keith Richards, and Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. For a game that’s already one of the most anticipated releases of the decade, the music lineup is becoming a headline story of its own.

Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19 via Rockstar Games, and the buzz around the soundtrack keeps building. Between the star-studded tracklist and Justice’s score, the music might be the thing fans are talking about most when the game finally arrives.

Celine Dion Gets Signature Barbie Honoring Her 1998 Oscars Look

Mattel has announced Celine Dion as the next Barbie Signature doll, and the design goes straight for one of the most memorable red carpet moments in music history. The doll recreates her 1998 Academy Awards look, complete with the navy blue turtleneck maxi dress and a miniature necklace inspired by the Heart of the Ocean from Titanic. It’s available for preorder now for $60 at Mattel Creations and ships on or before December 31.

Dion joins an impressive lineup of Barbie Signature music dolls that already includes Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, and Elton John. In a statement, she said it is a true honor to join the Barbie legacy with a doll inspired by one of the most meaningful moments of her career, adding that she hopes it inspires everyone to express themselves with confidence, follow their dreams, and believe in the power of their own voice.

The timing makes this one hit a little harder. Dion is currently wrapping a 26-date Paris residency that ends October 17, marking her return to regular performances after a six-year hiatus due to Stiff-Person Syndrome. So this doll is not just nostalgia, it’s a celebration of a comeback. Will you be adding one to your collection, or is it going on someone else’s wish list this holiday season?

Lake Ellsworth Dam Repairs Hit 60% as Drought Drops Lake Levels Well Below Normal

Lake Ellsworth looks a whole lot different these days, and there are two reasons for it: a major dam repair project and a stubborn drought. The City of Lawton says work on the dam is about 60% complete and still on track for a late March 2028 finish. Since April, crews have installed rock anchors, poured concrete slabs, demolished concrete along the ogee spillway, and placed baffle blocks, chute blocks and end sills. Concrete structures and training walls are still ahead. Public Works Director Rusty Whisenhunt says both the schedule and the total cost remain unchanged.

The lake was lowered to 1,229 feet back in May 2025 to give crews room to work, but Mother Nature had other plans. As of October 13, 2026, the lake’s elevation was 1,221.78 feet. Normal pool is 1,235 feet, which means Ellsworth is sitting more than 13 feet below where it should be. Construction gets part of the blame, but evaporation and the ongoing drought have pushed it even further down. The city expects low levels to stick around for the life of the project.

Funding for the repairs comes from two American Rescue Plan Act grants, a High Hazard Dam Grant, and a State Revolving Fund loan that will be repaid through utility rates. In the meantime, the city is asking everyone to be careful around the water. Low levels have exposed rocks, trees, land and debris, and there are hazards you simply can’t see below the surface. If you’re heading out to Ellsworth, treat it like unfamiliar ground.

Have you been out to the lake since the water dropped? What surprised you most about what’s now visible?

Pitbull Won't Reveal How Many Kids He Has, and His Reason Is Surprisingly Solid

Pitbull rarely talks about his family, but his new Billboard cover story just gave fans the most honest look yet at how he parents. The rapper says he keeps his children entirely out of his celebrity world because, in his words, “they’re not built for it yet.” He won’t even confirm how many kids he has, offering only that he has “a lot of kids.” That’s the entire statement.

What makes his approach stand out is how intentional it is. Pitbull says he’s taught his children to answer “no” whenever someone asks where they live or where they vacation. He also keeps them off social media while they’re young, though he said older kids can make their own choices. He calls himself the “wild card” in their lives, and says most of his current music ideas actually come from them.

And the music isn’t slowing down. Pitcoin, his fourteenth studio album, is out now, featuring collaborations with Enrique Iglesias, Lil Jon, Jason Derulo, Akon, Bon Jovi, Zion and Ne-Yo. So while the kids stay off the radar, Mr. Worldwide stays on the charts.

Server's Viral TikTok Says No-Tip Diners Lose Water Refills, Forks, and Allergy Help

A restaurant server just set the internet on fire with a TikTok about what happens when diners opt out of tipping. Her proposal: add automatic gratuity to every check, and if you want it taken off, you have to say so before the meal starts. Opt out, and the extras disappear. No water refills, no replacement forks, and no allergy notes to the kitchen, which she called a paid service. The July 3 video pulled 572,000 views and 77,900 likes, per the Daily Dot.

The comment section did not clap. Hundreds of people argued that good service is simply part of the job, and that punishing customers for opting out of a system nobody chose just makes them want to tip even less. Others pointed out that safely communicating an allergy isn’t a perk, it’s a basic safety standard.

To be clear, the tipping system is messy and a lot of people are over screens asking for 25 percent at the self-checkout. But her version asks diners to negotiate for hospitality before they even order, and that’s where most people draw the line.

We want to hear it. What’s one thing that should never be optional at a restaurant, no matter what you tip?

Breaking Bad Actor RJ Mitte Dies at 34

RJ Mitte, the actor who played Walter “Flynn” White Jr. on Breaking Bad, has died by suicide at 34. Born in 1992 and diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age three, Mitte brought lived experience to a role that became one of the most authentic portrayals of disability on television. He earned three SAG ensemble nominations for the series, winning alongside the cast in 2014.

Beyond the screen, Mitte built a legacy as a disability rights advocate. He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s and received the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award in 2013. Fans also knew him for a completely different passion: he began DJing in 2015, blending a career in entertainment with a love of music and performance.

His death is a major loss for both the entertainment industry and the disability rights community he championed. He was open, honest, and determined to make sure people like him were seen on screen. If you’re struggling with thoughts of suicide or just need someone to talk to, please reach out to a crisis line or someone you trust.

Sombr Surprises L.A. Crowd With Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham for "Go Your Own Way"

Sombr’s Kia Forum show on Saturday night turned into one of those concerts people will talk about for years. During his set, the 21-year-old singer brought out Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham as a surprise guest, and together they performed the 1977 classic “Go Your Own Way.” The crowd erupted as Sombr introduced the 77-year-old rock legend as one of his biggest influences.

If that wasn’t enough, Sombr had already treated the audience to another surprise earlier in the evening. The Neighbourhood’s Jesse Rutherford joined him onstage for a rendition of “Sweater Weather,” giving fans a double dose of unforgettable moments in a single night.

Sombr’s You Are the Reason tour continues Tuesday in San Diego and runs through a Jingle Ball date on December 15 in Philadelphia. With surprises like these becoming a pattern, fans are already speculating about who might show up next.

Texas Family Sells 650 Acres on Lake Palestine for $1 Million to Become State Park

After 80 years of ownership, the Pollard family has sold 650 acres on Lake Palestine in Henderson County, Texas to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation for $1 million. The goal? Turning the land, which includes pine woods, bluffs, wetlands, and a working pecan orchard, into a state park everyone can enjoy.

The foundation will hold the property until the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department acquires it in late 2027, using money from the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund. It’s the longest remaining contiguous stretch of shoreline on Lake Palestine, which makes it a major win for conservation in the region. Once the park opens in phases, visitors can expect camping, kayaking, hiking, and lake access, all shaped by public input.

Sam Pollard, the current owner and president of Texas Pecan Nursery, put it simply: the land is part of his soul, and he wanted to leave a legacy for people to enjoy. Anne Brown of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation added that chances to protect a property like this don’t come around often. What would you want to see included in Texas’s newest state park?

Turnstile Announce Free Washington Monument Benefit Show for Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon

Turnstile just announced a free concert at the Washington Monument in D.C. on October 24 at 3 p.m. ET, and it’s all for a cause bigger than music. The band is teaming up with Human Concern International to raise funds for humanitarian efforts in Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon, with donations going toward food, water, medical care and shelter for families in need.

The timing couldn’t be more stacked for Turnstile. They just made their SNL debut as the first hardcore band on Studio 8H since Fear in 1981, dropped Never Enough: Versions featuring collabs with Elton John and Hayley Williams, and they’re in the middle of their Never Enough Tour Pt. 2. Instead of just riding the wave, they’re using the moment to give back in a big way.

Hassan Wadi, global director at Human Concern International, shared that as a Gazan, he couldn’t be prouder of the Turnstile team and community for showing up for people in Gaza, Lebanon and Sudan. And honestly? Same. If you’re in the D.C. area on October 24, this is one show you won’t want to miss. And if you can’t be there in person, you can still donate to support the cause. Head to our link for more info.

Are you planning to hit the Washington Monument show or donating from home? Let us know!

Pitbull Sets Two Guinness World Records at Hyde Park Show

Pitbull brought more than 70,000 people to London’s Hyde Park this July, and a whole lot of them showed up bald. Well, bald-capped. Fans committed to the full look — rubber bald caps, aviator sunglasses, white shirts, and black ties — and the crowd officially set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps at 22,141. That’s the kind of record only Pitbull could inspire.

The 70,000-plus attendance also broke Hyde Park’s previous record, which Garth Brooks had set just one month earlier. Two records in one night, and both of them came with a dress code. The photos from the night are pure Mr. Worldwide energy: a sea of matching bald domes and shades stretching across the park.

Next up, Pitbull joins the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Week lineup for a Superstar Q&A. The event runs Oct. 19-22, and registration is open now. Would you wear a bald cap to a concert for a world record? Sound off in the comments.

Miley Cyrus' 'Bass Persuades' Plummets from No. 1 to No. 157 in Historic Chart Drop

Miley Cyrus’ “Bass Persuades” debuted at No. 1 on Sept. 28 with roughly 61,000 total album units, powered by 16 vinyl variants and discounted digital pricing from Atlantic Records. Seven days later, it landed at No. 157 on the Billboard 200. That 156-spot plunge is the biggest second-week fall from the top spot by a female artist in chart history, passing Madonna’s “Madame X,” which dropped to No. 77 in 2019.

The only No. 1 album that has fallen further is Bon Jovi’s “This House Is Not for Sale,” which slid to No. 169 in 2018. The comparison puts the scale of Miley’s drop in perspective, and it also highlights something chart watchers have been saying for a while: modern No. 1 debuts are often engineered by release strategy as much as by demand.

None of this changes what’s next for Miley. She has Hollywood Bowl shows on the calendar and recently teased a residency. As for the chart, it keeps moving whether anyone’s watching or not. So we want to know: does a No. 1 debut still mean anything if it only lasts a week? Sound off in the comments.

Taylor Swift Ends Ella Langley's Historic 24-Week Hot 100 Streak With "Patient Zero"

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the longest run in the chart’s history, and it surpassed Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” along the way. That run ended this week when Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” debuted in the top spot and sent Langley’s song to No. 2.

Swift didn’t stop there. Her tracks “Cleveland!,” “Babylon” and “Pink Clouding,” all from “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” filled out the rest of the top five, giving her a 16th No. 1 single. Only The Beatles and Mariah Carey have more chart-toppers in Hot 100 history.

Amid the chart news, Langley opened up about the pressure of her breakout year, saying she’s never had more opinions aimed at her than in the last year, and that she’s proud of the girl everybody seems to be picking on. Which artist do you think wins this chart showdown, the one with the historic streak or the one with the full top five takeover?

Rare Led Zeppelin Single Ordered Destroyed Found on Antiques Roadshow

A Led Zeppelin 7-inch single that was never supposed to survive just turned up on Antiques Roadshow at Caerphilly Castle in Wales. The record, “Whole Lotta Love,” was pressed only in the US in a run of 500 copies. Led Zeppelin had a strict no-single policy, and manager Peter Grant ordered every copy recalled and destroyed. Somehow, one made it to the UK, where expert Marc Allum says it shouldn’t exist at all. Despite scratches and finger marks, he estimated it could fetch around £1,000 at auction.

The owner picked it up in the early ’70s while collecting records to start a disco. Someone handed him a couple of records from a bag, and he’s held onto it for 55 years. There’s just one problem: when he played it at his disco, it cleared the dance floor. Every time. So the most valuable record in his collection is also the one that ruined his DJ set.

He plans to pass it down to his daughters, who can decide what to do with it. It’s a rare piece of rock history, a family heirloom, and a cautionary tale about party playlists all in one. What would you do if you found out your old vinyl was worth a thousand pounds, and it also empties a room?

Is Social Media Actually Dead? Why Everyone's Quiet Quitting Their Apps

There was a time when opening Facebook meant seeing what your friends were actually up to. Chronological feeds, dumb status updates, BuzzFeed quizzes that told you which pizza topping matched your personality. It was messy and fun and genuinely social. According to a new piece from Elizabeth Nolan Brown at Reason, that version of social media is effectively gone. What replaced it? Algorithmic feeds full of strangers, influencers treating every post like a brand launch, and short-form video that makes every app feel like a TV channel you never signed up for.

The shift didn’t happen overnight. Platforms chased engagement, and engagement meant showing you content from people you don’t know. TikTok proved the model worked, so Instagram and Facebook copied it. Suddenly your feed wasn’t about connection. It was about consumption. Commentators like Ben Smith compare social platforms to bars that lose their crowd, and Katherine Dee says the feeling of being online together is over. When your friends stop showing up, there’s not much reason to keep going back.

So what now? Maybe this is less about loss and more about honesty. People aren’t mourning social media. They’re relieved to have a reason to leave. The question is whether anything replaces it, or whether we’re all just quietly logging off for good. What was the moment social media stopped being fun for you? Drop it in the comments, we actually read them.

The TJ Show Podcast

Listen to the TJ Show weekdays from 6am to 10am right here on Magic 95. Click the link below to catch up on any audio you might've missed and scroll down to meet everyone on the show.

TJ was the kid who walked to school with his headphones plugged into his radio. Having discovered morning talk shows as a 13 year old while growing up in Hillsdale, NJ, he became hooked. In high school, he started working in radio as a volunteer.  He held many positions at his first official radio job including answering phones, producing, and eventually becoming a co-host on Elvis Duran’s nationally syndicated radio show.  TJ began hosting his own morning radio show (The TJ Show) in Boston in early 2013.  TJ is married to his wife, Jess.  They have 3 girls and a Labrador retriever named Luna.

JBo was given her nickname by a guy in college (who   she now realizes was flirting with her) when he said,   “I’mma call you JBo because you’re fly like   JLo”. JBo claims JLo as a play cousin so the comment   wasn’t too far-fetched. She was born in Puerto Rico and   raised in the City Beautiful (Orlando, FL). She’s a military spouse and the hardest part of her marriage is finding places to keep her kicks (She’s an avid sneaker collector). Leaving enough closet space for her husband is an ongoing challenge.

Kenny is The TJ Show’s audio producer.  He has been referred to as “chronically single.” Most recently, he had a crush on his dentist, but had trouble expressing his feelings with her fingers in his mouth. Kenny thinks being on a national radio show might help him find someone that loves him.  Kenny has bowled two 300-games and one 800-series (both USBC Sanctioned).  After years of heartbreak, Kenny is still a die-hard New York Jets fan.

Zach Bryan Breaks Gillette Stadium Record Wearing 'Free Palestine' Shirt Again

Zach Bryan just made Gillette Stadium history, and he did it in a T-shirt that’s now the center of the conversation. Saturday night’s Foxborough show drew 73,538 fans, the largest crowd the venue has ever hosted. For the second consecutive night, Bryan performed in a “Free Palestine” shirt.

Gillette celebrated the record on Instagram, but commenters quickly pointed out that the post’s photos never showed a close-up of Bryan’s shirt or his face. The timing is hard to miss. Earlier this year, Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour over pro-Palestine speeches, which Macklemore attributed to stadium owner Robert Kraft rallying venue owners against him. Kraft cited antisemitic rhetoric, while Sheeran described the situation as a debate over free speech.

With Bryan now headlining the same stadium in front of a record crowd, the message and the venue’s response are both under a microscope. One viral comment under the post said it plainly: “It’s 2026. Being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore.” Where do you land on artists bringing politics to the stage? Sound off in the comments.

Benson Boone Just Revealed His Most Embarrassing Tour Moment, and It Involved a Fan and a Urinal

Benson Boone has done backflips off pianos, played arenas, and watched his 2025 album American Heart debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. But his most unforgettable tour moment? A backstage bathroom incident that he still can’t shake. On the Life Uncut podcast with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, Boone shared the story of opening night on his Fireworks & Rollerblades World Tour about two and a half years ago, when a fan walked in on him mid-bathroom break.

Here’s the detail that makes it so good. Boone was at a urinal with his pants fully off, a joke he shares with his childhood friends. What he didn’t know was that the backstage bathroom was shared with the audience. A fan walked straight in. According to Boone, she was completely cool about it and they had a nice interaction afterward, but he still described the moment as awkward and horrifying.

It’s the kind of story that makes a chart-topping star feel like a regular person. Boone has since moved up to arena tours, but this one moment from his early touring days is apparently never leaving his memory.

Server Reportedly Told a Customer to Eat Fast Food Over a 5% Tip, and TikTok Cannot Stop Arguing

A TikTok from @captain.t.roll is putting tipping culture back under the microscope after the creator shared a receipt with a handwritten note from a server. The note, allegedly left after an $11 tip on a $220 bill, told the customer to eat fast food if that’s all he could afford and to stop wasting the server’s time, adding “This is our JOB!” The clip has pulled in over 1.2 million views and around 32,000 likes, and the comment section is a full-blown battlefield.

The customer’s side of the story: he says he dined with two friends, everyone ordered appetizers, entrees, and dessert, and the $240.35 total was split three ways, making the 5% tip feel fair for his share. Whether the handwritten note is real or a staged skit remains unclear, which, honestly, has not slowed the internet down even a little.

Some viewers are firmly on the server’s side, saying 5% is an insult in a job that depends on gratuity. Others argue tipping should be based on service, not a mandatory percentage, and that no customer deserves a scolding with their receipt. Either way, the debate is reignited, and it’s not cooling down anytime soon.

Where do you land: should tipping be a fixed percentage, or should it always come down to the service you got? Sound off in the comments.

Seed Bombs Help Los Angeles Fire Survivors Heal and Regrow

When Dana Goodyear and her son Ramsey lost their Pacific Palisades home in the January 2025 wildfires, they decided to do something unexpected. Instead of only grieving what burned, they started making seed bombs. Little balls of native seeds, compost, and clay about the size of a donut hole. You throw them into the dirt, the clay shields the seeds, and eventually native flowers push through the ash. What started as a healing project for one family has turned into a community movement. The Seed Bomb Project has now distributed 10,000 seed bombs to fire survivors across Altadena, the Palisades, and Malibu. Each one costs around five dollars, and the project is now part of the nonprofit Creative Visions, with schools and local businesses getting involved. Meanwhile, Altadena fire survivor Renée Amy is leading a parallel effort to sow 130 million California poppy seeds in burn areas. The seed mix was created by the Theodore Payne Foundation, a nonprofit native plant nursery, so these aren’t random flowers. They’re native species that can help restore fire-scarred landscapes and build long-term resilience. Dana said she wanted to channel her “pretty extreme disorientation and grief into something meaningful.” And the flowers, as she puts it, are “such a perfect symbol of resilience.” It’s not a solution to wildfire risk, but it’s proof that community, hope, and healing can be planted. What would you want to grow if you were starting over?
