Billboard is in the midst of unveiling their 25 Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century. To celebrate and analyze these influential artists, they’ve launched a dedicated podcast series. Hosted by deputy editor Andrew Unterberger, each episode features discussions with a rotating cast of Billboard editors, writers, and contributors. They delve into the careers, catalogs, and legacies of the stars who made the list, adding dimensions from both industry insider and pop superfan perspectives.
The first three episodes of the podcast are already available. Episode one covers the Honorable Mentions with Unterberger, Jason Lipshutz, and Kyle Denis discussing the artists who nearly made the top 25. Episode two spotlights Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran, with insights from Joe Lynch and Walaa Elsiddig. Episode three features discussions on Bad Bunny with Isabela Raygoza and Emily Fuentes, and One Direction with Danielle Pascual and Rylee Johnston. New episodes are released every Friday, and fans can subscribe on Spotify or other podcast platforms to stay informed. Seems like a solid way to deep dive into the pop universe with some of the best in the business leading the way.

In 1966, The Beatles played their last concert before a paying audience at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California. (Their ACTUAL last time playing together would be 3 years later, on top of the APPLE CORPS building in London) During this performance, John and Paul took photos on stage, knowing this would be their last concert ever. The crowd, mostly the females, were screaming so loudly that the band couldn't hear themselves playing. And just like that, they dropped the mic on an era! ????????
According to research 57 percent of meals in the U.S., both at home and away, are eaten alone. Breakfast is the loneliest meal of the day, with 60 percent of meals eaten in solitude. At least there’s company for dinner: Diners eat alone for just 32 percent of evening meals.
The world’s oldest webcam was nearly shut down five years ago this month. The San Francisco FogCam is named for the shrouded view it offers of the San Francisco State University campus where the cam’s creators were taking classes. It was launched in 1994. After the media covered the pending shutdown of FogCam, the university decided to step in to “preserve and run it indefinitely.” Fogcam is the oldest continuously operating webcam in the world. The first-ever live webcam that actually pre-dated the Internet was the Trojan Room Coffee Pot cam. It was invented by researchers at the University of Cambridge, hoping to make their afternoon caffeine fix a little more convenient. Many of them worked in different labs on different floors, making it impossible to tell if their trek to the coffee pot would leave them dismayed to find it empty. When they connected the cam to the Internet in 1993, tech enthusiasts around the world grew fascinated. It retired in 2001.
If you’re heading somewhere very crowded and you’d rather not lose your children there, highly visible clothing colors might help. A mom blog (Hint Mama) shared this simple tip: dress the entire family in the same, bright colors. Hideous, yes, but useful in crowded areas.

An 1869 game between Rutgers and Princeton is often cited as the first instance of tailgating at a football event. Fans brought food and drinks, and the event resembled modern tailgating practices. But tailgating didn’t originate with football — it started during the Civil War. The concept of tailgating can be traced back to the First Battle of Bull Run during the Civil War. Civilians gathered with picnic baskets filled with food and drinks to watch the battle, marking an early instance of spectators enjoying a communal meal while observing an event. The term “tailgating” is believed to have been coined by fans of the Green Bay Packers, who would park their vehicles around the field and enjoy food and drinks from the tailgates of their cars.

On this day in 1305, the Scottish hero William Wallace, famed for his resistance against English rule, was executed for treason. His bravery was immortalized by Mel Gibson in “Braveheart,” and his cry of “Freedom!” still echoes through the annals of history. Freedom – it’s worth fighting for, even if it means losing your head. I love screaming "FREEDOM" at the top of my lungs. The other people at Walmart just ignore me.

In 1962, The Beatles made their television debut recorded by Granada TV at The Cavern Club in Liverpool. The footage aired on October 17th that year. It wasn't until February 9th, 1964 when they would make their first appearance on American television playing 3 songs...and changing music forever.
Sunglasses have long been symbols of coolness and attractiveness, and research explains why. Sunglasses enhance facial symmetry by covering asymmetrical features around the eyes, which is often linked to beauty. Additionally, they create an air of mystery by obscuring the eyes, making the wearer seem more intriguing and leading to positive snap judgments about their intelligence, confidence, and sincerity. Moreover, people in sunglasses are often perceived as more stoic and less expressive, adding to their composed and cool image.

Three teenagers have been detained. Their ages are 19, 17, and 15. Their plot was uncovered with the help of foreign intelligence agencies, including U.S. authorities.
The 19-year-old told police his plan was to, quote, "kill himself and a large number of people," at either Thursday or Friday's show.
There would have been around 65,000 people at each of the three concerts, plus about 30,000 people outside the stadium.
Taylor is scheduled to play five shows at Wembley Stadium from August 15th through the 20th, and the mayor of London says those shows are STILL ON.
As we've already heard, the two older suspects were connected to ISIS. And a search of the 19-year-old's home unearthed a stockpile of chemicals, explosive devices, detonators, and counterfeit cash.
The 17-year-old had recently started working for a company that provided services to the stadium . . . and cops actually collared him near it. Not much has been revealed about the 15-year-old.
All three of them were born in Austria, with either Turkish, North Macedonian, or Croatian heritage.
It seems Kanye West’s recent struggles in the worlds of music and fashion might have an unlikely culprit – nitrous gas. According to a claim by Milo Yiannopoulos on the social media platform X, a dentist allegedly got West hooked on nitrous gas, which has put a damper on his creative output. Let’s just say, this allegation certainly puts a new twist on “creative highs.”
Milo, never one to shy away from drama, suggests that this issue is why Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, isn’t releasing hits or head-turning clothing anymore. The fallout has left fans scratching their heads, wondering if a trip to the dentist can really derail a music or fashion empire.
Of course, amidst these claims, there’s a strong denial from the “doc” in question. It’s a tale as twisty as the plot of one of Kanye’s album rollouts. Could this be the wildest reason ever for an artist’s career slump? Only time (and maybe a good dental check-up) will tell.
In a world brimming with conspiracies and wild tales, this dental detour into Kanye’s creative block takes the cake. The bigger question remains: Will Kanye and his music find their way back to the charts, or is this just another bizarre chapter in the life of one of music’s most enigmatic figures?
Looks like the squared circle isn’t the only battlefield for Hulk Hogan these days. The wrestling legend is reportedly gearing up to take on Hollywood heavyweights Ben Affleck and Matt Damon over their upcoming film about Gawker—a site that played a starring role in one of Hogan’s darkest periods. Word on the street is that the portrayal might not paint the Hulkster in the best light, and he’s not standing for it.
Insiders tell TMZ that Hogan, famous for his epic battles inside the ring, is ready to bring the pain to the courtroom if Affleck and Damon cross any lines. The project delves into the scandal surrounding Hogan’s notorious sex tape and his subsequent legal victory against Gawker, which bankrupted the website. Sounds like Hollywood drama of the highest order, right?
Hogan’s camp isn’t saying much but has hinted that they’re watching the project very closely. Given that Hogan won a $140 million judgment against Gawker, you’d think he’d be happy to move on. But apparently, the wounds are still raw, and he’s prepared to protect his legacy by any means necessary.
As if we needed another reason to pop some popcorn and watch the drama unfold, Affleck and Damon now have Hulkamania breathing down their necks. Will this just be another Hollywood flick, or could it turn into the grudge match of the year? Stay tuned, folks!
1. Take five minutes at night and make a to-do list for the next day. Then start with a few easy things to keep yourself motivated.
2. Maintain a clean workspace. And organize it so everything you need is within arm's length . . . except maybe your phone. If your phone distracts you a lot, keep it a little farther away.
3. Use a notepad to jot down reminders and other random stuff. Don't let those things sidetrack you when you're trying to focus on something. Just write them down so you can come back to them later.
4. Start your day with a brisk 20-minute walk. It sharpens your mind without tiring you out.
5. Make sleep a real priority. More REM sleep tends to equal better focus.
6. Play music when you're doing chores. See if you can finish a project before a song ends.
7. Don't overeat at breakfast and lunch. Eat well, just not so much that it makes you sleepy.
8. Add some background noise. A person who can't focus in complete silence said they play YouTube videos of coffee shop sounds. (Or you know something else that's great for background noise . . . the radio.)

In a decisive moment during World War II, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. The rumor mill is churning again, folks! An insider has stirred up quite the buzz by claiming that NFL star Travis Kelce is about to propose to pop sensation Taylor Swift. According to the source, “The engagement is happening soon.” Swifties, hold your breath… or maybe not just yet.
Apparently, Kelce’s camp isn’t singing the same tune. The tight end’s rep has officially shot down these engagement rumors, stating there are no formal plans for him to drop to one knee anytime soon. Oh, the suspense!
In the world of celebrity romance, whispers often morph into wild speculations quicker than you can say “Shake It Off.” For now, it looks like we’ll have to rely on the old-fashioned strategy of “Wait and See.”
But, to paraphrase Swifty’s own lyrics, are they out of the woods yet? Only time will tell if this insider’s scoop holds any water, or if it’s just an off-key rumor.
The cable television network MTV debuted, with the first broadcast being the music video for “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles. MTV has since become a major influencer in pop culture, although radio stars can attest that their demise was greatly exaggerated.
I remember watching it on that first day. I couldn't even imagine what it would become and the influence it would have.
