The Great Toilet Paper Debate: Over or Under?

Welcome to a showdown that’s been brewing for over a century: the toilet paper roll debate! “Over” or “under”—which way should you hang it? Turns out, this isn’t just a quirky household preference; health experts are revealing that the “over” method might just keep you cleaner. Dr. Christian Moro highlights that the “over” position lowers the chances of touching grimy surfaces while reaching for TP. Germs, beware!

But it doesn’t stop there; the original patent for the toilet paper roll, courtesy of Seth Wheeler in 1891, clearly shows it hung “over.” That’s a stamp of authority if there ever was one! So, we’ve got science, history, and even good old-fashioned etiquette all pointing to “over” as the champion of hygiene. Who would have thought toilet paper could spark such a spirited debate?

Now, let’s consider the households where cats and kids roam free. For those who can’t risk a furry friend unrolling a fresh roll, the “under” method might win out as the practical choice. Just think of it as a tactical compromise in the great war of bathroom etiquette. In the end, whether you’re team “over” or team “under,” one thing is clear: toilet paper positioning might reveal more about our lifestyles than we think!

So the next time you’re in someone else’s bathroom, you might want to check the roll orientation. But remember—what side you choose just might become an epic discussion among your friends. Who knew a simple bathroom staple could keep conversations rolling?

Shaboozey's Awkward Moment at the 2025 AMAs: Country Music History Misunderstood

The 2025 American Music Awards turned into a stage for unexpected hilarity when Shaboozey found himself baffled by a comment from Megan Moroney. As they presented the Favorite Country Duo or Group award, Moroney declared that the Carter Family were the “inventors of country music,” leaving Shaboozey—let’s just say—less than convinced. His incredulous side-eye and awkward chuckle contrasted sharply with Moroney’s unwavering poker face, and viewers couldn’t help but feel a collective cringe.

The moment has sparked a wave of laughter and confusion on social media, proving that even celebrities aren’t immune to misreading the history books. Shaboozey’s reaction was definitely relatable; how many times have we all been caught off guard by a random trivia fact? It’s a little reminder that awards shows aren’t just about the glitz and glam—they can also serve as a crash course in music history!

Interestingly, the Carter Family were indeed pioneers of folk music, influencing the country genre significantly. However, the history lesson didn’t land quite as intended, leading to a delightful moment of internet meme potential. You could almost hear the keyboards typing away as fans jumped onto Twitter to dissect the faux pas—who knew music history could be so entertaining?

As the dust settles, one thing’s for sure: this little blunder will go down in AMAs history as a reminder that sometimes, even the most poised presenters have those “oops” moments on stage. Country music fans will have to sort through the confusion, but for now, let’s just enjoy the ride and wait for the next unexpected gem to come our way!

Miley Cyrus's Vocal Secret: A Blessing in Disguise or Just a Pain in the Throat?

Miley Cyrus recently revealed her struggle with a condition known as Reinke’s edema, which affects her vocal cords and gives her voice its signature raspy tone. During an interview on Apple Music’s “The Zane Lowe Show,” Cyrus explained that the large polyp on her vocal cord defines her unique sound but also renders live performances akin to “running a marathon with ankle weights on.” Despite the difficulties, she embraces this condition, noting that it contributes to her individuality as an artist. However, it also forces her to be selective about when and how often she tours, emphasizing the need for a sustainable approach to her performances.

Cyrus also addressed additional health complications she has faced, such as a ruptured ovarian cyst during a New Year’s Eve performance and a serious leg infection that required a brief stay in the ICU. While recalling these challenges, she concluded that she is committed to preserving her distinct voice by avoiding surgery that could alter it. Cyrus’s candid conversation illustrates her resilience and determination to balance her artistic ambitions with her physical limitations, bringing both a relatable and inspiring perspective to her fans.

Selena Gomez Shows Support for Hailey Bieber Amid Justin Bieber's Controversial Confession

Selena Gomez recently demonstrated her support for Hailey Bieber by liking a post from Hailey’s Rhode Skin Instagram account. This gesture came after Justin Bieber candidly confessed that he once told Hailey she would never be on the cover of Vogue, a comment that drew heavy criticism for overshadowing Hailey’s moment of triumph, as she was recognized solo on the cover of Vogue for the first time. The post included a photo of Hailey with her product, which promoted the brand’s sale at Sephora, further establishing her professional achievements.

As fans applauded Gomez for her kind gesture, it highlighted a contrast between the women’s latest interactions and their previously rocky history. While tensions have existed between Gomez and Hailey over the years, including some pointed social media interactions, Gomez’s support in this instance suggests a possible thaw in their relationship, demonstrating that even amid drama, there’s room for new beginnings. It’s a classic case of how love, friendship, and a little social media activity can intertwine in the spotlight, even if some past comments still haunt the conversations.

ONE SIMPLE THING CAN SAVE YOU FROM ALL THAT SITTING

Chances are you’ve heard that sitting for long periods of time can mess with your health — even if you hit the gym regularly. The more time you spend on your butt, the higher your risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and early death, according to hoards of studies that compare people’s sedentary time to their health records. Scientists know that sitting is bad, but they’ve only just discovered what appears to be the best remedy: Walking — for as little as two minutes per hour (American Society of Nephrology). While most people in the study were largely sedentary, those who walked around for about two minutes per hour had a 33 percent lower risk of death during the study than people who sat without walking breaks.

WOMAN RETURNED TO OFFICE TO 'RESCUE' BANANA

Five years ago we were about two months into the pandemic, which initially forced many of us to work and school from home. Many of us had no idea that the last time we left our desks would be the last time we saw our office for weeks or months. Workplaces were quickly abandoned by those who were able to do their jobs at home. Had we known, we may have grabbed a few extra things from the office, like a calendar or our favorite mug. For one woman in Scotland, her concern over what she had left behind was far more specific. It dawned on Mhairi-Louise Brennan that when she walked out of her office she left behind a banana. She tweeted: “Knowing there is a banana in my desk drawer in work, which has been there since a week before lockdown, is making me feel anxious.” She took video of her drawer being opened to reveal the nine-week-old banana . Another Twitter user replied: “So we actually tested this at work a while back. You’ll be happy to know that it goes rock solid. We still have it 2½ years later…”

Why Picking Your Nose Is Still Socially Unacceptable (And Other Gross Facts)

There’s a wild debate simmering about why picking your nose is a major social faux pas while scratching your ear is considered entirely acceptable. Apparently, it comes down to the way we perceive these habits. While one response on Quora claims that nose-picking is a form of elimination—think of it as your body’s waste management system—ear-scratching is more of a harmless itch-relief strategy. Who knew that our bodily habits could spark such a curious conversation?

Experts in the podcast arena are getting in on the action, explaining that both earwax and snot actually play important roles in our health. Snot acts like a diligent filter, trapping dust and microorganisms before they invade our bodies, while earwax lubricates ear canals. Just think about that the next time you reach for your Q-tip—you might just be thrashing your ear’s built-in defense system! It’s enough to make you second-guess those habits.

And then there’s the intriguing argument that boogers might actually taste better than earwax. Yep, you read that right. While some scientists speculate that eating boogers could provide immune-boosting benefits, the general consensus remains that these peculiar habits are best left undone. So what’s the takeaway? It sounds like we should all just be a little kinder to our noses and ears and maybe focus on hugging a tree or two instead of picking our noses.

So next time you catch yourself indulging in those “gross” habits, remember this debate, and maybe think twice before diving in. After all, health experts advise against picking at your body parts and encourage finding more productive ways to spend your time—like baking cookies!

Justin Bieber and Hailey's Night Out: Love, Hockey, and Diddy Drama

It seems like Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber just couldn’t resist the allure of a good hockey game, even with all the Diddy drama swirling around them. The couple was spotted enjoying the intense playoff atmosphere at Scotiabank Arena on May 18, grinning from ear to ear while cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. But this wasn’t just a regular date night; it came on the heels of Justin’s rep denying rumors that he had any ties to the alleged misconduct surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs. Talk about a high-stakes game on and off the ice!

As they shared their night on Instagram, fans couldn’t help but notice how they seemed to be brushing off the chaos. Sure, there might be serious allegations flying around, but why not try to have a little fun? Justin’s rep made it clear that while he’s not a victim of Diddy, there are real individuals seeking justice. This appearance feels like a strategic move to refocus the narrative—who knew love and hockey could double as a publicity shield?

And let’s not forget about the Maple Leafs’ performance! Justin’s devotion to his team is commendable, maybe even inspiring. After all, with all the heat coming from Diddy’s side of the rink, isn’t it nice to see Justin channeling his nerves into cheering for some hometown hockey? Here’s hoping their game plan involves keeping the relationship strong, both on and off the ice.

So, as we watch the drama unfold, we can all learn a little something: sometimes a little distraction is just what you need when life’s throws you a curveball. Or in this case, a wayward puck flying through the air!

Sabrina Carpenter Teams Up with Jaguars to Energize Game Day Experience

The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking a bold step into the spotlight by teaming up with pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter. This fresh partnership brings Carpenter on board to launch a youth-focused campaign designed to amp up excitement for game days. Can you imagine a pop star taking the gridiron? Well, in the world of sports marketing, anything goes, especially when it comes to capturing the hearts of the younger crowds!

This dynamic collaboration aims to blend the worlds of music and football into a single experience that’s bound to resonate with millennials and Gen Z alike. It seems the Jaguars have realized that stadiums filled with energy and enthusiasm can be a powerful thing, especially if it involves catchy tunes and fun vibes. If you’ve gotta get butts in seats, why not use a chart-topper? The audience at future games might find themselves singing along to a Sabrina Carpenter hit—in between touchdowns, of course!

Bringing Carpenter into the mix could ignite a spark among fans who might not have considered themselves avid supporters of the Jags before. This strategy is not just about filling the stadium; it’s about reaching out to a demographic that can change the game for the franchise’s future. And who knows, maybe they’ll even win over a few new fans with catchy tunes and an unforgettable atmosphere!

If anything, this partnership is a reminder that sports and entertainment circles often collide in unexpected ways. So the real question becomes, will Carpenter’s charisma translate into a touchdown on the field—or just a hit on the charts? Either way, it’s bound to be a game-changer!

THE GOAT RESTARAUNTS

In 1925, A&W Root Beer became the first American restaurant to franchise. We had one in Lawton near the corner of Cache and Sheridan roads. That was a long time ago. Ever since that first A&W chain, the U.S. has lead the world and conquered the franchise idea globally. Many that start in the U.S. now reach around the world, making our restaraunts famous everywhere!

When you're travelling abroad and you see the golden arches, you know what that means. Consistency and comfort.

With some of the most iconic and entertaining marketing and advertising ever seen, chains have become a part of the American experience -even to those around the world who want a taste of America.

It's no wonder so many of us feel connected to chain restaurants, which have had a notable impact on what and how we eat.

At the same time, the resilience of these destinations has been tested in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted operations across the industry, with staffing shortages and health restrictions causing some chains to close numerous locations or shut down entirely.

Inflation and economic turbulence in 2025 have worsened the situation, with tariffs predicted to continue driving up restaurants' operational costs. Meanwhile, consumers burdened by these rising prices have scaled back on dining out. Once-thriving chains like Wendy's and Denny's have faced closures, underscoring the volatility of the current climate. Despite these hurdles, chain restaurants remain vital to American dining culture, offering familiarity in an ever-changing world.

Stacker analyzed Q1 2025 data from YouGov to rank the 50 most popular chain restaurants in the U.S. The rating agency surveys people daily across various areas—such as culture, politics, and business—to determine what they like and dislike.

YouGov's overall positive opinion scores represent the percentage of people who responded positively out of those surveyed.

Justin Bieber's Financial Turmoil: The Shocking $8.8 Million Debt to Scooter Braun

Justin Bieber’s tumultuous relationship with his longtime manager Scooter Braun has taken a significant downturn, primarily over financial discrepancies that Bieber alleges involve millions of dollars wrongfully taken by Braun. An investigation reveals a different story, asserting that Braun was not overpaid, contradicting Bieber’s claims. Instead, an audit conducted by Pricewaterhouse has determined that Bieber owes Braun’s company, Hybe, approximately $8,806,000.

As detailed in the documentary “TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber,” set to air tonight, the narrative delves into Bieber’s struggles following the cancellation of his “Justice” tour in 2022, which left him with financial obligations amounting to $24 million to concert promoter AEG. While Bieber’s management team has questioned the results of the independent audit, they are keeping their own findings under wraps. This convoluted financial saga underscores not only Bieber’s monetary issues but also highlights the ongoing battle he’s fighting regarding his mental health and career decisions. Let’s just say, it seems like the more you investigate, the more complex the pop star’s finances get!

108-YEAR-OLD COASTER WILL SOON SHUT DOWN

A legendary roller coaster that once stood as a “bleached dinosaur skeleton” on the Massachusetts coast now faces its second potential demise. The Wild One at Six Flags America is threatened again when Six Flags America closes this November. The coaster opened in Hull, Massachusetts’ Paragon Park in 1917 as The Giant Coaster. When Paragon Park closed in September 1984, Wild World purchased the coaster at auction for $28,000. The coaster reopened as Wild One on May 3, 1986, after a $2 million reconstruction. American Coaster Enthusiasts says Wild One is “the oldest roller coaster operating in the United States.” With Six Flags America set to close, the park hasn’t determined the fate of individual rides, so it’s possible the coaster could once again be sold off.

Taylor Swift Sparks Album Rumors with Dazzling Dress at Mother's Day Brunch with Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift recently emerged from months of privacy to celebrate Mother’s Day with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in Philadelphia. The couple enjoyed a meal at Talula’s Garden with Kelce’s family, including his mother, Donna Kelce, and siblings Jason and Kylie Kelce. Swift made headlines not just for her rare appearance but also for her fashion choice—a black daisy-print dress from Christy Dawn. The selection has drawn attention from fans who noted its potential reference to her lyrics from the 2017 album “Reputation,” where she sings about being a daisy.

Despite being in the spotlight with Kelce, Swift has maintained a low profile, while he has been more active socially, including a recent boys’ trip to Las Vegas with fellow NFL player Patrick Mahomes. This Mother’s Day outing signifies a special moment for the couple, leaving fans buzzing with speculations about her next musical releases and style choices. As Swift continues to keep the public guessing, one can’t help but wonder if her downtime has also included cooking up some new music alongside her signature Pop-Tarts.

Diddy Faces High-Stakes Trial: Jury Selected Amid Controversy

The final jury pool for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal criminal trial in New York City has been selected, consisting of 12 jurors and 6 alternates, with opening statements slated for Monday morning. The selection process was intense, narrowing down from over 45 candidates, and Judge Arun Subramanian approved the final list. Despite efforts to finalize the jury last week, two jurors dropped out last minute, prompting the selection to extend into Monday, ensuring a robust pool of jurors.

During the courtroom proceedings, Diddy’s defense attorney, Marc Agnifilo, noted the prosecution’s striking of seven Black jurors, which raised allegations of potential racial bias. However, Judge Arun Subramanian dismissed the defense’s concerns, stating the exclusions were justifiable based on various non-discriminatory factors. Diddy faces a total of five federal charges, including two counts of sex trafficking and a racketeering conspiracy charge, in a trial expected to last approximately eight weeks. Additionally, the jury will not be sequestered but has been instructed to avoid discussing the trial outside the courtroom. With graphic content anticipated, jurors have been forewarned to prepare themselves for some unsettling details

MEN, WOMEN WANT SEX AT OPPOSITE TIMES OF DAY

A survey says men and women aren’t in sync in the bedroom when it comes to the optimum time. Men feel most frisky between 6 AM and 9 AM, while women are feeling the love way into the night — between 11 PM and 2 AM. And the percentages of those who enjoy getting it on during the other gender’s preferred window are similarly low, with just 16 percent of men wanting sex before falling asleep for the night, and a mere 11 percent of women wanting to take care of business as soon as the alarm goes off.

Taylor Swift's Former Cape Cod Home Hits Market for Nearly $15 Million

Taylor Swift’s former home in Cape Cod has hit the market with a listing price of nearly $15 million. The pop star originally bought the estate in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, for $4.8 million in 2012 and sold it shortly after, in 2013. During this brief ownership, Swift was in a relationship with Conor Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., which reportedly caused some nerves for Kennedy when Swift purchased the property just weeks into their romance.

The idyllic seven-bedroom home boasts views of 200 feet of private beach overlooking the ocean and the esteemed Kennedy compound. Currently owned by architect Dell Mitchell and interior designer Heather Wells, this stunning estate captures the charm of Cape Cod living, perfect for anyone looking to soak up the sun in style. One can only wonder if this home will inspire another hit song—or perhaps a real estate reality show

THE BEST MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS...NOT!

Mother’s Day is here once again, and you know what that means…

A lot of moms are going to be getting some really terrible gifts on Sunday.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a lovely observance and that moms everywhere absolutely do deserve it.

But that doesn't delude me into thinking every mom is completely satisfied on Mother’s Day.

If you try a little, you can give a great gift. If you don't, well...

Here are some bad ideas for gifts.

A dog hair remover brush...especially if she doesn't have a dog!

Pajamas... four years in a row!

A card that the child was meant to decorate but she was a month old so it was just plain white.

Deodorant...of any kind!

A lovely lamp...that you garbage picked!

Food poisoning!

A free backrub booklet!

A gift card...that expired cuz you bought it last year and lost it!

A Slap Chop!

Any kind of candle from anywhere!

A Trump bible.

THINK, PEOPLE, THINK!

Happy Mother's Day

MEMORABLE MOMENTS OF PREGNANCY FOR MOTHERS

The most memorable moment of pregnancy for mothers is not what you might expect, according to a poll. Among the first-time moms who participated in the survey, 37 percent reported that feeling the baby move/kick for the first time was the most memorable moment for them; 21 percent said it was experiencing the sonogram/ultrasound; while only 2 percent stated it was the birth itself. The results were similar for “experienced” moms — those with more than one child — with 23 percent saying it was feeling the baby kick/move, 22 percent stating it was experiencing the sonogram/ultrasound, and again, only 2 percent reporting it was giving birth.

MAN CHARGED FOR DRIVING WITHOUT DOORS, WINDOWS, LICENSE PLATES, INSURANCE

A guy in the UK was pulled over for driving a van without doors, windows and license plates. A wooden stool was strapped to the van’s roof, and a triangular slow moving vehicle sign was tied across the back of the van where the license plate should have been.

Lady Gaga's Concert Foiled Bomb Plot: A Night of Triumph and Gratitude

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro and the country’s Justice Ministry successfully intercepted a bombing plot targeting Lady Gaga’s concert on May 2, 2025. The singer was completely unaware of this threat until the next day, as a statement from her team revealed they learned of the alleged danger through media reports. The authorities arrested the alleged leader of the hate group responsible for the plot and a teenage accomplice. Leading up to and during the concert, no concerns had been communicated to Gaga or her team, with over 5,000 officers providing security at the event.

Despite the attempted scheme, the concert drew an estimated 2 million attendees, making it Gaga’s largest performance to date. Reflecting on the event, she expressed her heartfelt pride and joy in an Instagram post, emphasizing the vibrancy of Brazilian culture and her gratitude to the fans who waited for her return since her last performance in 2012. Currently on tour for her album “Mayhem,” released on March 7, Gaga’s journey has been described as one of personal ownership and artistic identity, signaling a period of transformation and growth in her career. Sometimes, it takes a bomb plot to remind us of the power of live music; thank goodness that incident was averted, or we’d have a very different kind of headline to discuss!

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! CAROLINA COMICS!

THE HISTORY OF FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

Free Comic Book Day was conceived by Joe Field, a California-based comics retailer, event promoter and partner in WonderCon in 2001, Field noted how successful feature films based on comic book franchises were providing the comic book industry with a positive cultural and financial turnaround from the speculator bust of the mid-1990s. Inspired by Free Scoop Night at the Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlor next to his store, Field proposed Free Comic Book Day in his August 2001 "Big Picture" column in Comics & Games Retailer magazine. The column received positive reaction and Image Comics co-founder Jim Valentino suggested having the first FCBD coincide with the opening weekend of the 2002 Spider-Man feature film, in order to take advantage of the film's heavy promotion and related press about the comic book medium. The first event was held May 4, 2002, the day after the film's opening, and its first four free comic books were Marvel Comics' Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (a reprint of its issue published in 2000), Dark Horse Comics' one-shot Star Wars Tales: A Jedi's Weapon, Image Comics/Top Cow Productions' one-shot Tomb Raider #1+1⁄2 and the first issue of DC Comics' Justice League Adventures comic book (based on the Justice League animated television series). The event has usually been held on the first Saturday in May, and is often cross-promoted with the release of the first big-budget superhero film of the summer.

According to Diamond Comic Distributors, over 2,000 stores participated in the inaugural Free Comic Book Day and gave away more than 2 million comic books from 4 publishers. The following year, 29 publishers participated. FCBD 2012 exceeded one million attendees, with over 3.5 million comics given away. In 2015, 2,340 retailers ordered 5.6 million comic books to give away.

While giving out free comic books on FCBD, participating retailers often run additional promotions. This can include sales on selected merchandise, creator signings, prize raffles, cosplay contests, charity drives, karaoke, and art exhibitions. The event quickly grew to become a major celebration of comic book culture and fan clubs may volunteer to support local stores and help manage the crowds of people attracted to the event. Cosplayers may be enlisted to entertain the lines outside the stores and pose for photos.

Among some retailers, FCBD has been more grandly organized. An FCBD "shop hop" cross-promotion in London, Ontario, Canada, encourages people to visit five downtown comic shops for entry into a prize draw, and has evolved into a street festival. Cosplayers parade along the street, which is chalked with murals, and many other businesses along the route cater to the theme. Mesa, Arizona, and Portsmouth, England, have each expanded FCBD into a two-day comics convention.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of FCBD 2020. Alt Free Comic Days was held online on that weekend, streaming panel discussions with comics creators and artists. In mid-June, Diamond Comics announced that the planned titles would be released weekly as Free Comic Book Summer from July 15 to September 9. In 2021, FCBD was held on August 14, when COVID-19 restrictions had eased somewhat. That year's event was received as a big day for fans in the absence of comic book conventions and other major gatherings. However, delays in shipping led to the event being postponed for overseas retailers. From the twentieth anniversary edition of the event, held May 7, 2022, FCBD returned to the first Saturday in May.

Carolina Comics on 'C' Avenue downtown will once again participate in FCBD on Saturday, May 3rd. I will be there broadcasting LIVE from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Come by and say howdy and get your free comics!

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson Navigate Co-Parenting After Split

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson appear to be managing their separation amicably, as sources reveal they are getting along well. The couple, who married a decade ago, announced their split earlier this year but continue to support each other for the sake of their three children: Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie. Although they frequently communicate and see each other, there are no plans for reconciliation at this time.

Despite the recent breakup, Simpson is focusing on her music career and is reportedly in a positive place emotionally. She has expressed that she is open to dating again as she moves forward with her personal and professional life. As they navigate their new reality, it seems the bond between Simpson and Johnson remains strong, hinting that you never quite know what the future holds – unless, of course, it involves an upcoming music tour

HUG AND CUDDLE FOR A STRONGER MARRIAGE

Yes, yes, yes — give your partner a hug or cuddle while you catch some Netflix. According to research (Binghamton University) it just might build a stronger relationship. The study looked at the effects of non-sexual intimate touch — hugging, holding hands or cuddling on the couch — rather than actions intended to lead to sex. Overall, the study showed an association between non-sexual physical affection and solid marriages.
